Cardiocrinum ((Lilium Giganteum)

A magnificent woodland perennial, grown for its towering stems of large, fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers. Flowering in midsummer, these architectural lilies make a spectacular statement in the garden, thriving in cool, sheltered positions with rich, moisture-retentive soil. Although they take several years to reach flowering size, the display is well worth the wait. After flowering, the main bulb naturally dies, leaving offsets to continue the cycle for future years.

Height: 180–300 cm
Spread: 45–60 cm
Position: Part shade to dappled shade
Soil: Fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil
Flowering: Midsummer
Hardiness: Hardy perennial
